Values and Philosophy

In each session, I focus on building a strong relationship with my clients to assist them in making positive changes in their every day lives. With the support and compassion of a professional counselor, I believe each client has the potential to make meaningful transformations in their lives. I am sensitive to the unavoidable struggles and imperfections of every day life that can leave individuals feeling confused, frustrated, or hopeless.  I encourage my clients to accept that these ups and downs occur, but then help them find useful coping strategies for managing their concerns as they arise. I strive to be genuine and honest in each session and hope to provide an environment where my clients can do the same.

Therapeutic Technique and Methodology

My approach is one of compassion and concern. I treat each of my clients as individuals, who bring unique pasts, presents, and futures to our sessions. I practice from a variety of therapy models including cognitive behavioral, Rogerian, psychodynamic, solution-focused and grief and couples counseling perspectives. Although I am skilled on various theoretical models, I treat each person as an individual different from any other I have seen. I use the various modalities as tools I can access as needed in each session, rather than the lens with which I look at all clients through. Individuals have strengths and weaknesses, and my goal is to help my clients use theirs to make positive changes in their lives. My goal is to connect with individuals in a supportive and meaningful way to help them work through their problems and find new perspectives and insights for viewing these concerns.
