Values and Philosophy
There comes a time in everyone’s life when challenges present themselves and the changes of life become unbearable to handle alone. These are the times when working through various life issues with a counselor or therapist are helpful and transformational for one’s growth and ongoing happiness. As we all know life has it’s ups and downs and no one is immune, but we do have the ability to choose how to react and deal with these problems. Through counseling you can gain the tools you need to work through these challenges to achieve better long term outcomes so you can get back to enjoying your life.
I tell my clients that I am here to help them and to think of me as a toolbox. I don’t have a magic wand to make everything better, but what I do have through my professional training is the ability to guide you with the tools to cope and deal with the life circumstances that are universal. This does not mean that the “tools” in therapy are a one size fits all, as we are all individuals and the way that one person deals with issues may be completely foreign to someone else.
I believe that through counseling and with a collaborative approach in therapy anyone can gain long-term benefits from the counseling process.
Therapeutic Technique and Methodology
Our initial contact is a time to discuss your concerns, begin to obtain historical information, and clarify issues appropriate for focused psychotherapy. This initial process generally takes three to four sessions. This period is both evaluative and therapeutic. I will actively use my training and experience to help you meet your goals. Effective therapy will be a direct result of mutual efforts, honesty, and a spirit of collaboration.
As with an client, an assessment is made of each client’s strengths and development; a treatment plan is composed based on the needs presented by the client. However it is important that counseling is a collaborative effort of client and therapist to work towards healthy goals for treatment.
My theoretical approach stems from Cognitive-Behavioral therapy, which that aims to solve problems concerning dysfunctional emotions, behaviors and cognitions through a goal-oriented, systematic procedure; Person-Centered therapy, which uses the therapeutic relationship as its main point of influence; and Solution-Focused therapy, which focuses on what clients want to achieve through therapy rather than on the problem(s) that made them to seek help. The approach does not focus on the past, but instead, focuses on the present and future.Furthermore, each client's treatment is very specific and tailored to each individual, therefore other methods of treatment may be used depending on the need of the client. If further disclosure of specific treatment is necessary, it will be explained at the time of treatment.

Payment Information and Hours
Often times finding the right counselor can be difficult and that is why I offer a free introductory 20 minute phone consultation with potential clients. This will give you time to ask any questions you have and get an idea of how you feel.
Therapy should be affordable so I offer a sliding-scale fee structure with rates from $60 - $110 per 50-minute session, and $75- $160 per 90-minute individual or couples session depending on your annual income and household size.
At this time I do not accept any forms of insurance and expect full payment at the time of each session. I am a state licensed Associate Mental Health Counselor and upon request I can provide you with a statement at the end of each month for you to submit to your insurance provider, if you choose to do so. Most insurance companies will reimburse for mental health therapy, please check with your insurance provider if you have any questions.
I have flexible hours, including evening and weekend time slots.
